The dime box frankenset, Page 60: Numbers 532-540

Last week's frankenset page ended up becoming a Battle of the Mets.

Win -- 1973 Topps #525 Jim Fregosi (12 votes)

Place -- 1982 Fleer #524 Pete Falcone (10 votes)

Show -- 1994 Stadium Club #532 Geronimo Pena (6 votes)

By taking twelve of the 37 total votes, Jim Fregosi managed to eke out a narrow victory over fellow Met Pete Falcone. He's the fifth frankenset winner we've seen from the iconic 1973 Topps checklist.

Last week was one of the rare times I actually picked against '73 Topps. My vote went to Mr. Falcone, because that card is a surefire classic in my book.

I guess the legend that is '73 Topps was just too much for him.

It's time to introduce yet another completed page of frankenset nominees.

Let's see what we have in store for this week.

1992 Score #532 Ron Karkovice

A play at the plate that jumps outside the narrow frames of '92 Score.

1999 Fleer Tradition #533 Terry Steinbach

Baseball's version of The Graduate.

1988 Topps #534 John Wathan

It's not every day you see a manager wearing a batting helmet.

1994 Collector's Choice #535 Robby Thompson

A nifty throwback/double dip combo.

1993 Upper Deck #536 Kevin Young

Scampering across a rain-soaked infield.

1989 Score #537 Mike Gallego

I love the angle of this double play shot.

1993 Upper Deck #538 Alex Cole

Players have fun signing autographs, too.

1996 Collector's Choice #539 Steve Reed

There's some serious sidewinding action going on here.

2010 Upper Deck #540 Jason Bergmann

We close this week's page with a pitcher hitting at Dodger Stadium.

The polls are now on the sidebar.

Happy voting!

That's a wonder camera angle on the Steinbach card, but I may have to go with the Karkovice PATP. The man is being kicked in the twig and berries. I think he deserves a sympathy vote at the very least.

Two Rockies to choose from? What to do?

I agree with Tom. Karkovice gets the sympathy vote for getting kicked in the junk.

"Mr. Radke, are you trying to seduce me?" -- Terry Steinbach.

Steinbach was a personal favorite of mine when he played for Oakland. But this will by no means be a biased vote. That camera angle is pretty sick and one I've never seen used before on a baseball card.

Steinbach, but that Kevin Young almost took my vote...
