Topps went a little too far


This 1972 Topps Sparky Lyle card is one of the funniest in my collection. "Sparky" does look comical in this picture, but that's not why.




The reason I like this card so much is for the back. I'm not sure why my scanner made the back so light (it looks like an O-Pee-Chee card now).

Yes, there's writing on the back. I can assure you it wasn't me who did that, though. Stats, short bio, so what's so funny?

For those of you who haven't seen this card before, take a closer look in the top-right corner of the card.




Whoa. Whoa. Just...whoa.

My fourteen-year-old self is rolling on the floor laughing right now. The first time I saw this card was in one of my "Hall of Shame" books. It certainly belongs in the Topps Hall of Shame, at least.

Thanks to a poorly worded question by some Topps writer, fans thought of something other than baseball when they read this, if you know what I mean.

Too much information, Topps!
