The Frankenset Bracket: Play-in rounds (Pt. 1)

Let's take a look at how the last round of frankenset voting turned out.

Win -- 1995 Collector's Choice SE #197 Jose Rijo (9 votes)

Place -- 1995 Upper Deck Minors #196 Jayson Peterson (5 votes)

Show -- 2011 Topps Opening Day #190 Elvis Andrus (4 votes)

Dr. Jose Rijo took nine of the 30 total tallies to earn himself the final slot in the frankenset bracket. I couldn't resist casting my ballot with the former Red goofball, meaning that I agreed with the eventual victors in each of the last seven frankenset pages.

Not a bad way to close things out.

All right.

It gives me great pleasure to announce the following: The Frankenset Bracket is now underway.

I've culled all of the 74 frankenset champions and sorted them according to how many votes they individually collected in their victories. The top 54 winners are safe. The final 20 are subject to the play-in rounds that will take place over the course of the upcoming two weeks.

Since an ideal bracket consists of 64 contestants (have you seen March Madness?), we'll have to send some hopefuls home before this thing ever really gets started. Your votes will determine who gets to join in on the bracketology fun during the next two weeks of head-to-head play-in matchups. (Five this week, five next week.)

So, without further ado, let's get the bracket underway with our first batch of play-in rounds, shall we?

This is way easier than picking one of nine.
