100 followers...contest time!

All right, I'm going to make this short and sweet.

After a couple weeks of sitting at 98 followers, I've received two new ones in the last couple days to kick my followers list into the triple digits.

To celebrate the 100 follower mark, I'm holding my second-ever contest on this blog!

Here's what you have to do to enter:

1) Be a follower of the blog.

2) Comment on this post with what your personal favorite thing(s) about the blogosphere are. It can be anything you like!

No "pimpage" required. In fact, I'd prefer you not "pimp" this contest at all.

You can enter until this Thursday at 5:00 central time. That night, I'll place all the contestants' names in a randomizer, randomize it nine times, and see who comes out on top.

The prize will be similar to what I gave away in my first contest, a nice assortment of whatever I can find from your favorite player/team, with a few other dime box-like cards mixed in. I'll be including a few vintage cards this time around, which means that the above 1961 Topps Harvey Haddix will go to the winner of this contest.

This is my little way of giving back to a community that has already given me so much.

Thanks and have fun with this contest!

Congrats on a fun milestone. I love the dime box stories, but I think the way you put your heart into your writing is my favorite thing about your blog. I never feel cheated when I come to read one of your posts. Great work.

I like seeing all the Angels guys pull that I can then trade for.

Since most of my favorite players aren't superstars (the Padres haven't had a lot of superstars), I like knowing who other bloggers "lesser known" favorites are. Without the blogosphere, I wouldn't know how great Ron Cey, Tony Campana, Joey Cora, Bip Roberts, and Matt Harvey were.

It's too hard to decide. But the best thing about the blogosphere is that it doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon. I could be blogging until well into my thirties, if I'd like.

Trading! I just received my trade package from this cool guy named Nick. Maybe you've heard of him?

Sharing stories, reading other viewpoints about my hobby that I might not ever notice, and of course, trading.

Thanks and congrats.

Trading and learning things about cards that I didn't know.Reading about what others have to say about collecting and their collections. Meeting a few new people in person. I guess that's more than one thing, huh!? I just like everything about it !

Learning about the new product and being able to learn more about individual players that are blogged about. Also being introduced to the great people out there.

Contests in the sportscard blogosphere have been INSANELY popular lately. This is a testament to the generosity of those collectors who run a blog. Keep it up!

My 2n favorite thing about the blogosphere is when people rip packs and/or boxes and show what they opened up. I don't always have money to splurge on cards. When I'm short on cash there's always someone posting about a new product or showing off their great haul. I guy has to get his fix somehow and the blogosphere really comes through in this department!

My favorite thing, as many have and will attest to, is the generosity of community. When you think about it, it's definitely pretty cool.

A bunch of grown (some old) men sharing their baseball cards. Who knew! Ain't it fun!

Trading and reading about cards and sets that I never heard of or gave a second thought about until someone profiled them.

What I like most about baseball card blogs is seeing all kinds of different baseball cards I've never seen, since I live in hockey card country! Thanks for the contest! :o)

Congrats on 100 followers. What I like about the Blogsphere? Is there a word/time limit? What I like/love about the blogsphere is the vast knowledge that others have of sometimes quite obscure card issues. Finding out things about the current issues/set that the card companies try to keep hidden like exactly how many cards are in the base set and the unfortunate overabundance of superduper short print cards that will make finishing the full base set impossible. OK so maybe that is not much of a like, but the card companies hardly ever let you know about that disappointing stuff.

I like that it provides me with an outlet and also connects me to other collectors.

Congrats on 100 followers! Such a great accolade! I think the part I like the best about the blogosphere is the dedication and inspiration. There is always a plethora of new information and new takes on everything cardboard. I get sick of blogging sometimes, but I never ever get sick of reading other blogs.

I love seeing what others collect, how they collect and what they have to say about the way they conduct the gatherings of their pc's.

Ya know those days when you just don't feel like blogging or not really much comes to mind, you can certainly always find inspiration in the blogosphere. When you're at a seemingly low point in your blogging, it seems you can always find someone else at a very high point.

Congrats on 100! Been a reader for awhile, just started following. My favorite thing is being able to connect with other collectors. Out of my group of friends, I'm the only one who didn't stop collecting once we became teenagers in the 90's, so it's nice to be able to find others who share this hobby.

congrats on 100!

my favorite part of the card blogging world is trading, easily.

Congrats on reaching your milestone, I am slowly inching my way there.

I am going to cheat and give more than 1:
1. The trading and how it goes down. Like you I have done a ton of trading based on BV on trading forums, we do it so much better.
2. I love seeing cards from others collections and why they collect what they collect - it has given me fresh perspective on the hobby.
3. It is nice having "friends" that share in my hobby. I really haven't met or even talked to anyone outside of some emails, comments and posts but it is nice being part of a community that cherishes cards. I haven't had that since I was much younger.

Congrats on 100! Way to go!

There are so many cool things about Blogoland it's hard to nail down just one favorite but for the sake of answering your question I will say the community aspect of the whole network of collectors. The variety of so many cool people with so many different collections is awesome. Trading is pretty great also.

Thanks for the contest!

Thanks for the contest.

Simply coming across interesting cards and the interesting photography that they contain. I came across your blog after acquiring the 98 Score Delgado in a dollar store bag, and enjoy someone who likes interesting cards as opposed to valuable ones.

Congrats on 100 followers Nick!

The thing I love most about the blogosphere is the generosity that I've received (and tried to give) when trading with other bloggers.

Follower. My favorite thing is the melting pot of collectors. I love the differences in everyone's collections and collecting focus, yet we all share the same passion.

Follower of course. I love the trading in the blogoshpere it means I can get rid of cards I hate and get cards I actually want without spending any money what so ever.

I like learning that people feel the same way about the hobby as I do... it's all for fun! Collect what you like not for profit. :)

I like the community that exists and the generosity and kindness shown between bloggers!

Congrats on 100 followers. Following blogs helped me rekindle my love for collecting cards. Without discovering Stalegum, Cardboard Junkie, Night Owl, etc. I don't think I would have made it a priority to complete the sets from my childhood.
