Please Mr. Postman (A trade post) -- Can't have too many Dempsters

I've really got to get all these '50s/60's song titles out of my system. Some of them do work really well with cards, though.

First, let me just say I'm glad that my previous post has gotten some attention from my fellow readers. It was probably the most heartfelt post I've written on this blog thus far. The fact that those words poured out of me at 11 o'clock at night was an accomplishment in itself. I was tired when I began writing that post, and I was almost dazed after it was finished. But I needed to get those thoughts out of my system.

Also, my 2012 Topps "celebration" post is just a couple views away from being my most viewed post on this blog. I guess I'm not the only one out there who's liking the 2012 Topps flagship set.

A big thanks to all who read this blog! Good to know that there's other "dime box" lovers out there.

Speaking of my readers, I got home from my afternoon class today to find a package from Hackenbush (my personal favorite username in the blogosphere) over at "Can't Have Too Many Cards".

Anyways, David (his actual name) contacted me earlier about some extra Ryan Dempster cards he had. I'd recently decided to start a player collection of Dempster.

I received the package today, filled with about fifteen new Ryan Dempster cards for my collection. Best of all, I didn't have any of them already! All are new additions to the collection.

But that wasn't all.

Some neat cards for my Hall-of-Famer collection.

I've always liked those K-Mart reprint cards. Plus, it looks like Billy Williams is still rockin' the mustache long after his playing days.

But wait, there's more!

David included an unopened pack from the 1992 Guinness Book of World Records set. I collect oddball cards, but I'd never heard of these before.

Turns out they're actually pretty neat!

The card on top is the record for the largest number of participants in a single marathon. A whopping 24,588 runners completed the 1989 New York Marathon.

The one on the bottom is the world's largest-ever mass balloon release. The record is 1,121,440, which occurred at Disneyworld in 1985.

Like I always say, you learn new stuff all the time in this hobby.
