(Not so) Deep thoughts with Series 2

Okay.

Meh.

"Gee, we really need more Cody Bellinger cards," said no one ever.

New teams.

One of many, many SP variations.

Games played in 2018, combined: zero(?!).

Mini-collections (sorry, Kenny).

Tough high-numbers for the frankenset (really the only thing Series 2 has going for it).

Cool.

WHY. DID. YOU. BLUR. OUT. THE. BACKGROUND.

And that's about all I have to say about Series 2 this year.

  1. "Mini-collections (sorry, Kenny)."

This betrayal will not be forgotten.

  2. I am looking forward to opening some series 2 packs. I am looking forward to building the Indians team set. Did you get any Indians?

  3. It could be worse. They could’ve been Derek Jeter or Aaron Judge highlight cards.
I’ll probablu get some Series 2 in the next few days.

  4. I appreciate you letting me know I only have to chase the Jays in series 2.

I really didn't care a great deal for the inserts I pulled in series 1, and series 2 looks the same.

  5. Well, I need more Cody bellinger cards. If you are so inclined. I could also use the ethier card.

  6. Anyone complaining about the potential for more Aaron Judge cards will want to avoid the Walmart packages of series 2...just saying.

  7. I like the Carew insert..and I like the '18 flagship design in general. After skipping last year's set I think I'll try and complete this one. The SP variations are infuriating-does anyone actually like these, aside from the occasional legend version? There's no good reason to blur out the background of the King Felix card. Topps' photo selection is so hit-or-miss these days.

  8. I checked my local Target today and struck out, hopefully there will be a few loose packs left tomorrow after the feeding frenzy...
The Kurt Suzuki shot is awesome!

  9. Thank you, Nick. I'm on the fence about completing this one. I like the design, but man, the photos are way too over processed. Plus, why doesn't Topps come out with a really innovative subset? Something, anything. Oh well, I'll hold off for now...

  10. Regarding the Cody Bellinger inserts, the worst part is that I kinda like the design... but it does appear that the Series 1 cry of "Another ****ing Jeter" will be replaced with "Another ****ing Bellinger".

  11. It always seems kind of odd for tribute inserts of guys that have been in the league a year. That is a ton of a Bellinger

  12. Yeah, couldn't have been Pujols highlights (from like, a full career? with a recent significant milestone?) but no, they have to go with (last year's?) hype machine hot player....

I had a tough time finding out what the inserts are for series two. Seems like the same generic ones from series one. No innovation whatsoever. They cut all that out this year. Yay exclusives.

  13. I actually liked the effect of the Felix Hernandez card, but it looks like your disappointment lies with the photographer and not Topps on this one. It was shot that way.
