The dime box frankenset, Page 46: Numbers 406-414

Let's take a look at how last week's frankenset voting played out.

Win -- 2008 Topps #402 Taylor Buchholz (8 votes)

Place -- 1998 Pacific #404 Kevin Young (5 votes)

Show -- 1998 Fleer Tradition #403 David Segui (4 votes)

After two straight weeks of tie-breakers, we finally have a straight victory. Taylor Buchholz and the Pirate Parrot took last week's crown without much of a fight, taking eight of the 31 total votes. It's the fourth straight week I've agreed with the eventual victor.

Baseball cards need more mascot cameos, don't they?

The voting was very spread out last week as well. Each of the nine cards received a tally, the first time that's ever happened in frankenset history. (Every card received at least two tallies, actually.)

That's what I like to see.

Will each of these nine cards manage to get at least one vote?

There's only one way to find out.

Let's take a look at this week's nominees.

1993 Upper Deck #406 Kelly Gruber

This would be a fun card to caption.

1971 Topps #407 Joe Rudi

The art of holding on the runner.

1994 Upper Deck #408 Tim Wallach

Tommy Lasorda approves.

1997 Upper Deck #409 Rich Becker

Outstanding, indeed.

1999 Upper Deck #410 Bobby Hughes

A play at the plate between the salad tongs.

1998 Ultra Gold Medallion #411G Jose Vizcaino

A rare cameo from the equipment bag.

2013 Topps #412 Everth Cabrera

Superman!

1995 Upper Deck #413 Walt Weiss

Walt Weiss, the God of double plays.

1995 Donruss #414 Jody Reed

That is one PO'ed ballplayer.

There you have it. The polls are now on the sidebar.

Happy voting!

  2. You love to make these choices even harder!
I have to vote for Walt Weiss but could have chosen more 2 or 3 from the possibilities.

  3. What a page! How are we supposed to choose? Becker gets the nod, mostly for the huge SportsChannel add on the wall.

  4. Tough group. I'm a sucker for a good catch so Becker gets the nod.

  5. Hard to vote against a card from the '93 Upper Deck set, so… it gets my vote.
