Dock Ellis Day

I've decided to declare today, October 11th, as Dock Ellis Day.

Why?

Because I'll be catching the newly released No No: A Dockumentary on the silver screen later tonight. I'm not much for most movies nowadays, so this is the first time in a while that I've been genuinely excited to hit the theater.

I don't have a ton of time to go into a detailed Dock Ellis biography, so I'll let another source do that for now.

Instead, I thought I'd show you every single Dock Ellis card I own in honor of his holiday.

Here they are in all their glory.

(Mini)

Favorite card of Dock: 1975 Topps/Topps mini.

Card that best represents Dock: The psychedelic 1972 Topps, for the obvious reason.

First card of Dock: I'm not 100 percent certain, but I think it was his 1980 Topps "sunset" issue.

Most recent Dock: 1976 Kellogg's, way back in November of last year. I'm overdue.

Uniform that most suits Dock: '70s Pirates, baby!

Uniform that least suits Dock: Those bland late '70s Rangers jerseys.

Card that needs to be produced of Dock: Something like this commemorating his seven-game stint with the '77 A's.

Most fabricated card of Dock: 1976 Topps Traded. Ain't no way the Yankees allowed facial hair on their precious ball club.

Most shocking card of Dock: Either his '69 rookie or '70 Topps issues. I can't get used to seeing him with that baby face.

Bad cards of Dock: None. This is Dock Ellis we're talking about.

Happy Dock Ellis Day!

I'm forever grateful to Dock for showing me what you can accomplish great things when you do acid at work.
