The (Second) Dime Box Frankenset Bracket: Palmer Region (Pt. 1)

Had some close ones last week.

#6 (Page 12) -- 2017 Stadium Club #104 Ryon Healy (20 votes)

def.

#11 (Page 43) -- 1973 Topps #386 Don Money (15 votes)

#14 (Page 42) -- 1992 Stadium Club #376 Greg Gagne (17 votes)

def.

#3 (Page 19) -- 2004 Upper Deck #166 Kerry Robinson (16 votes)

#7 (Page 31) -- 1973 Topps #273 Chris Speier (24 votes)

def.

#10 (Page 2) -- 2007 Upper Deck #16 Alvin Colina (9 votes)

#2 (Page 57) -- 1994 Topps #511 Devon White (17 votes)

def.

#15 (Page 24) -- 1970 Topps #213 Andy Etchebarren (16 votes)

Two of the four matchups last week were decided by a single vote: one resulting in a big upset (Gagne over Robinson) and the other narrowly avoiding an even bigger one (White over Etchebarren).

I try to remain as impartial as possible as I watch the votes tally up, but I have to admit I would've been crushed if Devon White would've been tossed so early. That's one of my personal favorite cards in the whole frankenset, and it took a late rally for him to even survive the first round.

So, thanks for that, voters!

And so we move on to the fourth and final region of the frankenset bracket: the Palmer Region, named after Lowell Palmer, the coolest dude in the history of baseball cards.

Let's check out the matchups.

VS.

#16 (Page 27) -- 1974 Topps #238 Fran Healy

#8 (Page 50) -- 1994 Stadium Club #448 Erik Pappas

VS.

#9 (Page 44) -- 2001 UD Victory #396 Wilton Guerrero

#5 (Page 1) -- 2018 Stadium Club #9 Zack Godley

#12 (Page 67) -- 1969 Topps #603 Joe Keough

#4 (Page 54) -- 1996 Collector's Choice #484 Rex Hudler

That's it for this week. The polls are now on the sidebar.

  1. Hudler versus Dick Pole will be a fun one to watch. Milking a cow versus middle school humor. That's a tough call!

  3. Milking a cow on cardboard? I feel like this card has a shot to win it all.
