The dime box frankenset, Page 2: Numbers 10-18

It was a close race, but the first frankenset page has a champion.

Win -- 1960 Topps #5 Wally Moon (10 votes)

Place -- 1988 Upper Deck Promos #1 DeWayne Buice (8 votes)

Show -- 1972 Topps #9 Stan Williams (7 votes)

Wally Moon squeaked out the narrow victory, beating out DeWayne Buice by two votes and taking ten of the 34 total tallies last week. The Unibrowed One is the oldest frankenset champion we've seen since voting went underway.

Though it was gut-wrenching to choose against Mr. Moon, I went with Buice because, before I acquired it last year, it was a card that had been near the top of my want list for years. To own the first card in the history of a legendary product is a special thing, and I guess the shock of that hasn't warn off (and probably never will).

In the end, though, he just couldn't take down the unibrow.

We're back with a new page of nominees.

Let's see what the frankenset binder has in store this week.

2015 Stadium Club #10 Zach Britton

Keeping things current with one of the many, many spectacular images from 2015 Stadium Club.

1995 Stadium Club #11 Carlos Garcia

Let's not forget the greatness of '90s Stadium Club, though, by any means.

2005 Topps Fan Favorites #12 Glenn Hubbard

Now that is a bat barrel shot.

1997 Upper Deck #13 Mark Lemke

The media circus.

1995 Donruss #14 Walt Weiss

One of the many double dips from the cardboard career of Walt Weiss.

 1994 Topps #15 Jay Bell

Turning two with '94 Topps.

1995 Pinnacle #16 Mickey Morandini

A particularly painful collision at the plate.

1995 Topps #17 Dave Nilsson

Trippy, dude.

1992 Donruss Triple Play #18 Eric Anthony

We close with one of the most zoomed-out photos I've ever seen on a baseball card.

The polls are now on the sidebar.

Happy voting!

  1. Nilsson gets my vote. Reminds me of the time I went to a game after eating some acid candy.

  2. Love that 2 Braves made this page. And that Weiss, has a Cameo shot of Will Clark too, tough one, but I'm choosing Birdland.
