Let's take a look at the results of last week's frankenset voting.
Win -- 1999 Upper Deck #316 Charles Johnson (16 votes)
Place --1992 Leaf #323 Tony Pena (7 votes)
Show -- 2014 Topps Update #US-324 Alexi Amarista (4 votes)
For the first time in well over a month, my vote ended up going to the winner. Charles Johnson and his O's-Cuba play at the plate took the lead from the start and didn't let go. He ended up receiving nearly half of the 33 total votes. A big thanks to everyone who hit the polls.
The political Election Week might (thankfully) be over, but our frankenset voting keeps chugging along.
Pound for pound, I think this might be the best frankenset page we've seen so far.
You won't find a weak link in this week's group.
Let's meet the nominees.
1983 Fleer #325 Jason Thompson
CNN covering baseball (who knew?) and an outstanding look at some Stargell Stars on Thompson's cap.
2008 Upper Deck #326 Justin Maxwell
Between the helmet-less batter, strange piles of dirt, and construction workers in the backdrop, there is absolutely nothing normal about this baseball card.
1993 Upper Deck #327 Mike Macfarlane
Beware of flying bats!
1993 Upper Deck #328 Ricky Bones
Our second straight nominee from 1993 UD and a pretty darn nice autograph shot, to boot.
2011 Topps Update #US-329 Dee Gordon
Easily one of the most beautifully framed double dip shots ever.
2013 Topps #330 Ryan Raburn
A shot for the ages makes this one of 2013's finest cards.
1992 Score #331 Scott Bailes
A relief pitcher climbing the wall for no particular reason.
1995 Upper Deck #332 Kirt Manwaring
Another chapter in the never-ending saga of Kirt Manwaring plays at the plate.
1976 Topps #333 Bob Coluccio
That '70s facial hair, dude.
That just about does it for this week's frankenset page. I know I'm going to have a tough time deciding how to cast my vote.
The polls are now on the sidebar.
Happy voting!
My vote goes to the 2008 UD Maxwell. The less normal the better.
ReplyDeletemy vote's in! I haven't picked the winner for the last two rounds.
ReplyDeleteJust like Zippy, I picked the Maxwell card...it simply makes no sense at all, so I love it !
ReplyDeleteThat Scott Bailes card makes me laugh every time. He didn't even bother to put on his spikes! I can only imagine the conversation with the photographer that led to that shot. Typical relief pitcher. Maybe it's just because I was a relief pitcher so it speaks to me, but he's got my vote.
ReplyDeleteI'll go with Gordon. Vote Coors Field!
ReplyDeleteWas going to go with that fantastic Maxwell card, but I have to give my vote to the Dodger. Phenomenal Dee Gordon card.
ReplyDeleteThe Maxwell card is great!
