However, I feel that empty space is sometimes necessary to make the cards more simpler or elegant. For example 2006 Allen & Ginter...there isn't too much print on those cards and it just works for whatever reason, in my humble opinion anyways.

Good looking out for the hobby as a whole. If there were more collectors like you, then the hobby would assuredly be a better place.

But I too am truly proud to be a collector in the modern era. I think the current era is one that will be talked about for decades past.Zaydenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10323242690817594227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5342310663064800554.post-91383726534319981392013-01-22T21:25:04.151-06:002013-01-22T21:25:04.151-06:00I'd love Opening Day a lot more if they used d...I'd love Opening Day a lot more if they used different photography for the base cards, rather than simply repeating the Flagship ones.

The inserts and parallels are terrific, but the base cards make it feel like a bit of a knock-off brand to me.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Opening Day's current setup, but I'd enjoy it much more if they changed up the photos a bit.Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13508921644099472101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5342310663064800554.post-18646096270042513542013-01-22T21:18:57.108-06:002013-01-22T21:18:57.108-06:00I like hiflew's suggestions. What potential do you see there with that set?

A curious collecting mind would like to know.

I miss Topps Total. I would glady send Opening Day into the sunset if they brought this one back. Archives (in the 2012-13 form) is totally unnecessary since Heritage is around.

I would have the following as Topps' 16 sets (I think that is the number they get).

Flagship (3 series inc. Update... priced no higher than $1 per pack)

Chrome (the only parallel I don't mind)

Heritage (2 series inc. an Update set...but not like 2012)

Allen and Ginter OR Gypsy Queen but not both

Bowman (Bowman, Draft, Prospects all combined into 1 set design like the late 90s Bowman)

Bowman Chrome

Bowman Platinum/Sterling combined into 1

Topps Total

1-2 Completely New Sets (some may suck, but innovation is preferable to history in this case)

1 minor league set (personally I would dump this one entirely)

1-2 mid/high end sets

1 wild card set (something from the past or something new)

Just a few thoughts.hiflewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07128126188366882765noreply@blogger.com
